The younger brother of former UFC champion Anthony Pettis, Sergio Pettis, defends his Bellator bantamweight belt this Friday night against the Rizin bantamweight champion Kyoji Horiguchi! Could this be the bout for the best tiny man fighter in the world? The fact that Sergio Pettis has beaten Brandon Moreno and Joseph Benavidez points to yes. But the fact that Sergio Pettis has also lost to Henry Cejudo and Rob Font points to no. Kyoji Horiguchi also used to fight in the UFC, and his only loss in the promotion was against Demetrius Johnson (Mighty Mouse) for the title. No matter what, this is definitely the most talented fight outside of the UFC since McKee vs Pitbull back in July.
Alright now that we got that casual garbage out of the way, let’s get to the real good stuff. The legendary Spike Carlyle who was a sensation in his UFC debut with a TKO victory, then unjustly cut after 2 straight losses, is finally getting another shot at a large promotion on the prelims of Friday night’s Bellator card. Since getting cut by the UFC he’s won 3 fights in a row, all by finish. He takes on Dan Moret, another fighter who was signed by Bellator after getting cut from the UFC and then smashing the regional scenes.
